autumn equinox yin yoga workshop
Yin Yoga - Pranayama - Yoga Nidra
4.30 - 6.30pm
sunday 18 September 2022
Day and night/Light and dark are equal. This can represent the light and dark in ourselves.
Equinox is a transition period, the death part of the cycle, a time to let go like the trees let go of their leaves.
We are moving into the yin part of the yearly cycle. A good time for self reflection, meditation, journaling, settling into yourself.
This is a time to acknowledge our prosperity and give gratitude for the abundance of the offerings from the summer, honouring the harvest and letting go of all that no longer serves us ready for the more quiet internal time of the winter.
What to expect in the workshop
We will practice pranayama, yin yoga and a 20 minute Yoga Nidra meditation to complete the session.
During yin we create acupressure, the focus in this workshop is to balance the seasonal meridians of the late summer: the stomach and spleen and the autumn meridians: the lung and large intestine.
A small gift and cacao balls will also be shared with you.
Stomach and Spleen Meridian
Emotions: Contentedness/Equanimity and Worry/Anxiety.
Balanced: Contentment. Comfortable in your body. Feet on the ground. Connects us to the world around us. Clear thinking. Capacity to make connections.
Out of Balance: Anxiety. Worries. Overthinking. Obsessiveness. Ungrounded. Inflexibility. Weak, dull, lethargic.
lung and large intestine meridian
Emotions: Grief/Sadness and Courage and Self Worth/Self Esteem
Balanced: Recognising your worth. Feet on the ground yet light in the body.
Reverence. Each moment as precious. Courageous.
Out of Balance: Repeating destructive behaviour patterns. Difficulty completing projects. Unexpressed emotions. Muddled thinking. Poor judgement.

Moving inwards towards stillness
yin yoga workshop
Yin Yoga - Pranayama - Yoga Nidra
2.00 - 5.00pm
sunday 13 November
As we head into the colder months it is a time for introspection, a turning inward towards stillness through a withdrawal of the senses (pratyahara).
What to expect in the workshop
Pranayama/Breathing Techniques to still the mind.
A Yin Yoga Sequence with long holds 3 - 8 minutes moving towards stillness in the body, which can help lead to stillness in the mind. Yin Yoga is a passive floor based practice that works on the body, mind and emotions. It helps fascial release and works on the colder harder tissues of the body. The longer holds facilitate deep changes to the tissues and also work on the meridians (energy channels as in TCM) by creating acupressure in the body, this may create an emotional release. The mind benefits from the mindful meditative approach to the practice.
We will practice a long Yoga Nidra for around 40 minutes. Yoga Nidra can be a deeply relaxing practice bringing about a trance like altered state of consciousness in which we are in between sleep and wakefulness. You don’t need to do anything as I will guide you through the practice. You simply receive the nidra.
A small gift and cacao balls will also be shared with you

Winter Equinox Yoga Workshop
Yin Yoga - Pranayama - Yoga Nidra
12.00-2.30pm
Sunday 18 December
Yin yoga is a practice that works especially well in winter so what better time than to embark on a deep 2 1/2 hour yoga session right on top of the winter equinox.
Transitioning from Autumn to Winter, a time for turning inwards, withdrawing into stillness ready for the darker colder months.
The winter solstice brings the shortest day and longest night, a time for self reflection before the festivities to come. A time to contemplate on the year behind us and what we are grateful for.
I will guide you towards a deep connection to your body through sensation and your breath whilst holding yin poses, we will also practice pranayama to prepare for a deep state of relaxation during a long Yoga Nidra.
In this 3 hour workshop we will explore a yin sequence focusing on winter meridian pairs: kidney and urinary bladder. The kidneys and urinary bladder help to remove waste from the body, however when these energy lines are imbalanced we can experience the emotion of fear and weak will power and may even manifest as chronic anxiety. When in balance we are able to experience our will power and healthy ambition. A bladder imbalance may manifest as fear of change.
We will also be doing pranayama and a 35-40 minute yoga nidra for complete relaxation for our winter equinox theme.
If you would like to book or if you have any questions please contact me, spaces are limited so booking is essential.
A small gift for you and cacao balls to end the workshop.
