what is Yoga Nidra?
Yoga nidra is profoundly relaxing and what I would consider to be a very easy way of reaching a stillness in the mind and deep relaxation for the body and mind. The two tracks include a sankalpa/intention setting, extended body scan/rotation of awareness, breath awareness, visualisations. The heart track also includes feeling opposite sensations within the body and a heart healing visualisation and the forest nidra takes you on a walk though the woods whilst breathing in the pure fresh air there.
When we come to this deep state of relaxation we can become more receptive to suggestion, a little like hypnosis; so setting intention and activating a heart healing meditation works on a deeper level than normal due to this receptivity.
While it is okay to fall asleep, do try to stay awake. If you need to move do so with minimal disturbance.
Sometimes, rare but it can happen, you may feel as if you can’t move - this is simply sleep paralysis, your body thinks it is asleep but your mind is still conscious. You may also dream while you are awake and it can be really interesting/surreal.
If you do use the meditations please leave me a review and comment to let me know how you got on. I am always interested in peoples experience and this will also help my profile enormously on the Insight Timer.
